The Château de Lasfonds is situated in the South-West of France, not far from Angouleme. In the east, you’ll find traditional villages and the renowned cuisine of the French Perigord region. To the South and West, you’re within reach of the celebrated wine regions of Bordeaux and Cognac, and not too far from the beaches of the French Atlantic coast.
While the Château enjoys a quiet spot away from the main tourist traffic, getting to popular spots like Paris or Bordeaux is still straightforward, making it an ideal base for discovering more of what France has to offer.
Why Us?
Château de Lasfonds sits on the edge of Charente and Dordogne in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, France's largest by area. The local economy is diverse, grounded in agriculture, the vineyards of Bordeaux and Cognac, tourism, as well as significant aerospace, design, and digital sectors.
Dordogne is a sizable, predominantly rural area in southwest France, named after the Dordogne River flowing through it. It roughly aligns with the historic county of Périgord. Known for its historic sites, including castles, Châteaux, churches, bastides, and caves,
Dordogne also boasts well-preserved market halls, dovecotes, and other relics of its rich past. As of 2023, the region had around 410,000 residents. It has become a popular spot for British expats attracted by the pleasant weather, French lifestyle, and the area's overall appeal.
Charente, adjacent in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, has long thrived on traditional industries like salt and cognac production. Nowadays, it's home to over 350,000 people and a bustling expat community. The area is famed for its cognac and pineau, as well as dairy products like butter.
